TFI Communications Technology Asset Valuation Conference Speaker: Dr. Kristen Grauman, Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science, University of Texas, Austin

12th Annual TFI Communications Technology & Asset Valuation Conference - 2017

Transformative Technologies Keynote

Kristen Grauman, Ph.D.

Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science, University of Texas at Austin

Kristen grauman.jpgAn expert in Artificial Intelligence, Professor Grauman studies how computers process, interpret, and act on visual data, including video. This puts her at the center of so many of the technologies that will impact the communications industry: autonomous vehicles, drones, robots, augmented reality, IoT, cognitive computers, etc. Who knows? There may come a day when computers consume more video than people do, meaning even more bandwidth demand for our networks to cope with. This should be a very interesting presentation. And fascinating as well!

Professor Grauman leads the Computer Vision Group in the Department of Computer Science at UT-Austin. She received her Ph.D. from MIT in the Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory in 2006. Her research in computer vision and machine learning focuses on visual search and object recognition.

She is an Alfred P. Sloan Research Fellow and Microsoft Research New Faculty Fellow, a recipient of NSF CAREER and ONR Young Investigator awards, the Regents' Outstanding Teaching Award from the University of Texas System, the Computers and Thought Award from the International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence, and a Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers.  She serves on the Editorial Board for the International Journal of Computer Vision and as an Associate Editor in Chief for the Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence.
