Carl is an business executive turned entrepreneur. He is Partner with Partner, Valentiam. He is also Founder and Chief Executive Officer at CrowdReason, LLC, a technology and human solutions developer based in Dallas, Texas. CrowdReason's focused on three segments: Innovation, Funding, and Operations. 

Previouosly, Carl was Duff & Phelps’ Strategy Leader for the Specialty Tax practice in the Dallas office of Duff & Phelps, LLC. The Specialty Tax practice includes both the International Tax and State and Local Tax practices including Business Incentive Advi-sory, Property Tax Advisory and Compliance, Transfer Pricing, Unclaimed Property, Income Franchise and Sales & Use Taxes.

Professional Experience:

•Carl has over twenty years of experience in the field of Energy/Utility property valuation, management consulting and financial advisory.

•Carl also has provided expert witness testimony numerous times in various court venues on behalf of energy and telecommunications clients.

•Carl’s most recent work experience prior to Duff & Phelps is the Managing Director for Standard & Poor’s. He developed and lead Platts / Standard & Poor’s Corporate Value Consulting collaboration, which provides a variety of joint financial and business solutions for clients in the Energy industry.

•Prior to joining Standard & Poor’s Carl was the National Valuation Partner in Charge of Energy/Utilities for Ernst & Young.

•Carl served a variety of industries including electric utilities, electric generation facilities, railroads, airlines, natural gas pipelines, telecommunications and cable TV.

•Engagement highlights include:

–Valued over 300 power plants in more than 60 separate transactions for various purposes;
–Valued a variety of business enterprises, equity and debt interests, and various fixed and intangible assets associated with businesses;
–Performed purchase price allocations, valuation of minority and control equity interests for various purposes, financial and tax reporting, corporate planning, recapitalizations, and feasibili-ty studies;
–Valued a variety of intangible assets including, computer software, contracts, leasehold interest, patents, trademarks, favorable financing, options to buy and sell, employment contracts, non-competition agreements, assembled work forces, mineral rights, subscriber and customer rela-tionships, data libraries, proprietary technology, goodwill, and going concern value;
–Specific client activities entail valuations involving: providing expert witness testimony, litiga-tion support, appraisal and valuation analysis, and the development of tax strategies for regulated and non-regulated utility companies;
–Consulted with state agencies regarding the valuation of utility, energy, and industrial property valuation and accumulated over five years of experience in government agency client service specifically in the Industrial / Utility industry.
